Leica Biosystems Recruits Dan Schrock to Senior Director, Global Clinical Affairs

Life Science Partner is pleased to announce the recruitment of Dan Schrock to Leica Biosystems to serve as Senior Director, Global Clinical Affairs.

Leica Biosystems is a global leader in clinical diagnostics technologies providing a full suite of anatomic pathology products and laboratory workflow solutions for cancer diagnostics. Utilizing this platform, the company provides customized companion diagnostics solutions for pharmaceutical companies developing novel oncology drugs. Leica Biosystems is part of the Danaher group of companies.

Schrock previously served as Sr. Manager, Alliances with Illumina in San Diego, where he was responsible for managing corporate partnerships for the development of companion diagnostics for oncology drugs. Prior, Schrock led clinical affairs programs in IVD and CDx with Ventana Medical Systems, Abbott Laboratories, and Cepheid.

In his new role, Schrock will be responsible for overseeing Leica’s clinical research programs, providing strategic leadership to the company’s evolving clinical affairs function, and managing partnerships with pharmaceutical companies for the continued development and testing of companion diagnostics for personalized medicine.

Schrock is a chemist by training and earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Chemistry from Illinois State University.

Fred Siebert Joins Beckman Coulter as Director, Global Clinical Affairs

Life Science Partner is pleased to announce the recruitment of Fred Siebert to Beckman Coulter as Director, Global Clinical Affairs. Beckman Coulter is an innovative diagnostics and life science company that creates the world’s most efficient diagnostic laboratories. It is part of the Danaher group of families.

In this new role, Siebert will be responsible for the development and execution of a consolidated global clinical trials strategy for the company. This work is of particular importance to the company in the context of changing European regulatory requirements and continued growth of the company’s clinical activities in Asia.

Siebert brings deep experience in global clinical trials for molecular diagnostics and biopharmaceuticals, most recently at OvaScience, where he oversaw their clinical programs as Vice President of Clinical Operations.

Earlier in his career, Siebert held a variety of clinical affairs leadership roles at Abbott Molecular, where he led the company’s first companion diagnostics partnership and earned the Abbot Chairman’s Award for his contributions.

Max Wallace Recognized with Life Sciences Achievement Award

Life Science Partner recruited him to this post several years ago because of his deep experience bringing impactful treatments to patients. He previously was CEO of TheraLogics, an anti-cancer company based on technology from the University of North Carolina. He also co-founded and served as President of Trimeris, a public company that developed Fuzeon, the first FDA-approved viral entry inhibitor, establishing a whole new class of drugs for HIV/AIDS and other viral diseases.

Pamela Goldberg Joins Medical Device Innovation Consortium as President, CEO

Life Science Partner is pleased to announce the recruitment of Pamela Goldberg to lead the Medical Device Innovation Consortium as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to starting her own consulting firm in 2017, Ms. Goldberg served as the CEO of the Massachusetts Technology Collaboration, a public economic development engine designed to foster technological advancements, where she helped launch Massachusetts to national leadership for adoption and interoperability of electronic medical records and collaborated to build the health information exchange connection to the EHR.

She will succeed Bill Murray as CEO, whom Life Science Partner recruited at the organization’s inception, and is well-suited to lead MDIC into its next phase of growth and impact, building on the foundational successes of Mr. Murray and his team.

Previously, Ms. Goldberg served as director of The Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at Tufts University, a program she launched to drive innovation for the university. Ms. Goldberg received her BA from Tufts University and her MBA from Stanford University.

Josh Lewis, PhD Joins Life Science Partner as Executive Search Associate

Prior to joining LSP, Josh earned his PhD in Biochemistry, Cell and Developmental Biology from Emory University in Atlanta, where his research focused on cell adhesion molecules and cell membrane composition, with clinical applications ranging from oncology to rare skin diseases.

Josh applies his rigorous scientific training to our search process, building upon our clinical expertise and our carefully executed, partner-led process. As a scientist and engineer, Josh understands the technologies and market forces that are important to our clients. Deva Puranam, MSc, MBA, Joins Baxter International as Vice President, Global Laboratory Operations

Former Senior Director, Global Quality Operations Mylan Pharmaceuticals

Life Science Partner recruited Deva Puranam, MSc, MBA, to serve as Vice President, Global Laboratory Operations at Baxter International to lead the company’s laboratory standardization practices and build out quality systems infrastructure across Baxter’s lab facilities worldwide.

Puranam joins Baxter after serving as Senior Director, Global Quality Operations for Mylan where he was responsible for implementing seamless harmonization for laboratory operational processes overseeing a team of 109 employees spanning across 33 manufacturing sites globally.

Conner Childers, JD, Joins Beckman Coulter as Vice President, Head of Global Compliance

Former Healthcare Compliance Policy Director at Amgen

Life Science Partner partnered with Beckman Coulter to recruit Conner Childers, JD, to serve as Vice President, Head of Global Compliance for Beckman Coulter.  He will report to Curt Brueske, JD, General Counsel.

In his most recent role at Amgen, Childers had direct responsibility for building the compliance program so that the company was prepared to respond to the company’s first Corporate Integrity Agreement.  Working across Amgen’s U.S. operations, Childers recruited and led a team that made compliance part of the corporate commercial objectives.

With his Amgen experience in building new compliance programs in partnership with business units, Childers has the right balance of leadership and influence to build an effective Beckman Coulter compliance organization,” states Tom Callaway, MD, Founder and President of Life Science Partner. “His legal and organizational background including a career as a Naval Officer have given him the skills and ability to build and lead world class teams.”

Jeremy Miller, MD, Joins EndoChoice as Pathology Director

Former Director of Urologic Pathology/GI Pathology at Ameripath

Life Science Partner has recruited Jeremy Miller, MD, to lead the Pathology Lab at EndoChoice, a College of American Pathology (CAP) accredited lab focused on providing the highest level of quality and service to the GI community.

Miller joins EndoChoice after serving as Director of Urologic Pathology and GI Pathology at Ameripath, in addition to formerly serving as Chief Medical Officer for Platinum Pathology, a national GI and GU lab owned by Miller based out of Virginia.

“Miller has excellent training as a pathologist with broad surgical pathology training, he has worked directly under internationally-renowned Dr. Fenoglio-Preiser, one of the top GI leaders in the field,” states Tom Callaway, MD, President and Founder of Life Science Partner.  “He is an entrepreneurial leader in the field of high volume pathology with a can-do attitude that will fit with the corporate culture of EndoChoice.”

Joe Jimenez Joins TissueTech as Vice President, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs

Former Vice President, PGT Quality Teva Pharmaceuticals

Joe Jimenez, Vice President, formerly PGT Quality for Teva Pharmaceuticals has recently become Vice President, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs for TissueTech, a Miami-based company producing regenerative amniotic tissue-based products for use in the ophthalmology, optometry, musculoskeletal and wound care markets.    Life Science Partner partnered with CEO Amy Tseng and founder Shefferd Tseng, MD, PhD, to recruit Jimenez to prepare the company for the changing regulatory landscape of regenerative medicine products.

At Teva, Jimenez was responsible for leading the global quality team for the PGT joint venture between Proctor & Gamble and Teva where he oversaw an international team based in Switzerland.  “Jimenez has global view of quality,” states Tom Callaway, MD, Founder and President of Life Science Partner.  “He has a broad hands-on approach to developing analytical methods and quality systems combined with a can-do energy that will mesh well with the culture at TissueTech.”
