Life Science Partner recruits former Vice President, Research and Development, Remote Patient Monitoring at Boston Scientific

Life Science Partner announces the recruitment of John Lalonde, an innovative senior medical device executive, to become Vice President, Product Development, Technology and Stimulation Research for Medtronic Neuromodulation. 

Neuromodulation is Medtronic’s second oldest and fourth largest business unit, with products that include neurostimulation systems and implantable drug delivery systems for chronic pain, common movement disorders, and urology and gastrointestinal disorders.

During his tenure at Boston Scientific, Lalonde was responsible for the development of LATITUDE, a cloud-based FDA class III home monitoring system for cardiac patients with wireless medical device implants treating arrhythmias and heart failure.  Previously, LaLonde served as General Manager, Global Engineering, Clinical Systems for GE Healthcare, where he was a global engineering leader of GE’s critical care business unit for neonatal, ICU, and OR patient monitoring and wireless cardiac monitoring systems.

In his new role at Medtronic Diabetes, Lalonde will be serve as the functional leader of Medtronic’s Neuromodulation Business Senior Leadership Team, to drive excellence in product development, technology and stimulation research.

Life Science Partner recruits former Director of the Biologics Manufacturing Launch Teams at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company

Life Science Partner announces the recruitment of Tom Vanden Boom, PhD, a senior biopharmaceutical executive in the development, manufacturing and commercial launch of biologic products.

Hospira is a global specialty pharmaceutical and medication delivery company that develops, manufactures and markets products that help improve the safety, effectiveness and costs of patient care.

In his most recent role at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Vanden Boom was responsible for leading the Biologics Manufacturing Launch Teams for global technical operations manufacturing and supply chain activities supporting the commercial launch of all new biologic products for the company.   Prior to his tenure at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Vanden Boom served as the Department Head of Biological Development at Abbott Laboratories.  In his new role at Hospira, he will provide strategic and technical leadership for the company’s drive to develop biosimilars drugs for some of the world’s blockbuster biological drugs.

Vanden Boom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and a Masters in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.  He received his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  There, he also completed a post-doctoral in Molecular Genetics.

Life Science Partner recruits former Senior Vice President, Business and Commercial Development from ACADIA Pharmaceuticals

Life Science Partner announces the recruitment of Brian Lundstrom, an experienced biopharmaceutical business development executive, to Windy Hill Medical to become Chief Executive Officer for the company.

Windy Hill Medical is a California-based medical device and pharmaceutical company focused on the development of products to reduce the risk of developing breast cancer in patients deemed to be at high risk.

In Lundstrom’s previous role at ACADIA, a San Diego-based biopharmaceutical company developing small molecule therapeutics for the central nervous system, he was responsible for developing partnerships, particularly with Asian and European pharmaceutical companies, for the company’s four clinical-stage and preclinical programs.

Prior to joining ACADIA, Lundstrom served as Vice President of Business Development and Humanized Polyclonal Antibody Program Manager for Genzyme Corporation in the areas of Oncology, Hematology Transplantation and Immunology. 

In his new role as Chief Executive Officer, he will lead the Company through an additional round of financing, the development and expansion of the clinical trial program, and commercialization of its product portfolio.

Lundstrom earned his Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with an immunology and molecular biology focus from the Danish Technical University in Lyngby, Denmark.  He attended the Copenhagen Business School and earned a diploma in Economics in International Management.  Lundstrom received his PhD in Biochemistry from Odense University and then attended the Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey, CA for an MBA program.

Life Science Partner recruits former Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Vermillion.

Life Science Partner announces the recruitment of Steve Lundy, a top commercial executive in early-stage diagnostics companies, to MicroPhage, an early-stage company based in Longmont, Colorado. 

Using its proprietary bacteriophage-based technology, MicroPhage is developing rapid assays for the direct identification and drug susceptibility of deadly bacterial strains such as Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA).

Most recently, Lundy was the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Vermillion, where he helped lead the company’s transformation from life sciences to a clinical diagnostics business model.

Lundy previously served as Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Business Development for GeneOhm Sciences.  He led the launch of the IDI-MRSA(TM) assay, the first nucleic-acid based test to be cleared by regulatory agencies to replace conventional microbiological culture by directly testing the clinical specimen. GeneOhm was acquired by BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) in 2006.

Life Science Partner recruits senior biotechnology entrepreneurial and Co-Founder and Chairman of North Carolina Innovation Foundation.

Life Science Partner announces the recruitment of Max Wallace, a biotechnology CEO and innovative leader, to lead Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure, Inc.

ABC2 is a not-for-profit organization established in 2001 with a for-profit mindset and a singular focus: to hasten the discovery of a cure for brain cancer.  Founded by the Case , the ABC2 has an entrepreneurial model of identifying and funding critical research into brain cancer and catalyzing interdisciplinary collaboration works.

Wallace shares the ABC2 passion for using a not-for-profit model for pushing forward new drug development – particularly to treat diseases ignored by big pharma companies due to low prevalence and smaller markets.

Max Wallace is Chief Executive Officer of TheraLogics, an early-stage biopharmaceutical company based on technology developed by Dr. Albert Baldwin at the University of North Carolina.  He previously co-founded and served as President of Trimeris, a public biopharmaceutical company that created and brought to market the world’s first entry inhibitor, establishing a new class of drugs for HIV/AIDS and other viral diseases.  He also founded and developed several other biopharmaceutical companies, including Sphinx Pharmaceuticals Corporation (now a division of Eli Lilly & Co); SARCO (now a part of PPD/Pharmaco); and Cogent Neuroscience.

Life Science Partner announces recruitment of former Executive Director Operations, New Product Development for Cordis Corporation.

Life Science Partner announces the appointment of Nancy McLane, a senior operations executive, to LifeSync Corporation as the Senior Vice President of Operations. 

LifeSync is an early stage medical device company focused on the continued development, marketing and sales of the first wireless electrocardiogram (ECG) data communications system appropriate for hospital and outpatient settings.

In her most recent role at Cordis Corporation, a Johnson & Johnson Company producing medical devices for cardiovascular, endovascular and neurovascular markets, McLane was responsible for the overall operations for the development and commercialization for Cordis’ drug-eluting stent products including  production start-up and launch in the European market.  Previously, she served as the Executive Director of Operations for the Neurovascular Division.  Prior to her tenure at Cordis, McLane managed plant operations for C.R. Bard, a multi-national producer and distributor of medical devices with various locations in the US and Mexico.

“With a strong background in all aspects of medical device manufacturing, Nancy will be a leader in building supply networks and help LifeSync ramp up to meet demand for its wireless ECG System and disposable LeadWear,” noted Tom Callaway, President of Life Science Partner.

At LifeSync, McLane will be focused on building a top-flight manufacturing and support team for LifeSync’s wireless communication devices and proprietary technologies.   As the senior technical and operations leader for LifeSync, she will manage customer relations, technical support, and external manufacturing activities.

McLane earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Northeast University in Boston.  She received an MBA from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Life Science Partner recruits former SVP, Corporate Development and Commercial Affairs of Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Life Science Partner announces the recruitment of Carol Gallagher, an experienced biotechnology and pharmaceutical executive, to Metastatix, Inc. 

Metastatix is an emerging pharmaceutical company developing and commercializing effective, convenient and safe small-molecule drugs for a broad portfolio of indications including cancer, HIV infection and inflammation.  The company’s initial focus has been on the CXCR4 receptor, a critical mediator of cellular and chemical trafficking.

Gallagher was Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Commercial Affairs for Anadys Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company committed to the development and commercialization of small-molecule medicines for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and cancer, where she was responsible for commercial and portfolio leadership, business development and strategic planning. 

Earlier, Gallagher was Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Product Planning for the CancerVax Corporation where she successfully led all aspects of commercial planning and product development for the launch of a Phase III oncology product and the alliance with Serono Pharmaceuticals.  Throughout her career, Gallagher held leadership positions at Biogen Idec, Agouron/Pfizer, Amgen and Eli Lilly and Company.

Gallagher earned her undergraduate degree from the College of Arts and Sciences at Vanderbilt University and received her Doctor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Kentucky.

Life Science Partner recruits former CEO of AdipoGenix, Inc.

Life Science Partner announces the recruitment of Ed Cannon, an entrepreneurial pharmaceutical executive, to AerovectRx Corporation. 

AerovectRx is an early-stage aerosol therapeutic development company capitalizing upon its unique AeroCell™ disposable drug cartridge to improve patient compliance, eliminate multi-user cross contamination, and deliver a wide variety of vaccine and therapies.   Licensed from the Centers for Disease Control, the delivery platform has the potential to improve vaccines, pulmonary drugs, and lung-delivered therapeutics for systemic diseases.

Cannon was the founder and CEO of AdipoGenix, Inc., an early stage biopharmaceutical company utilizing a novel drug discovery technology to isolate fat precursor cells and identify small molecule drug candidates that treat obesity and its co-morbidities.  He was responsible for building a management and scientific team, creating strategy around the technology platform, and raising capital for the company.  Earlier, Cannon was the founding CEO of Elixir Pharmaceuticals, where he successfully led the team through Series A and B funding and three major discovery programs, each with a lead series of compounds.  In addition, Cannon was co-founder of Dyax Corporation where he was president of the therapeutics and diagnostics division.

Cannon received a Bachelor of Science degree, a Masters in Statistics and Computer Sciences and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Georgia.  He completed his postdoctoral training in Molecular Immunology at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Life Science Partner recruits Rob Shaw, Former Executive Director of the Georgia Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Life Science Partner announces the recruitment of Rob Shaw, a not-for-profit healthcare focused executive, to the Georgia Arthritis Foundation. 

The Arthritis Foundation is a nationwide nonprofit organization leading efforts to prevent, control and cure arthritis and related diseases with more than 500,000 volunteers, 46 chapters and 150 community service sites.  The Georgia Arthritis Foundation works to improve the quality of life for children and adults with rheumatic diseases and their families.  The Arthritis Foundation works to improve medical care, provide collective and individual advocacy, stimulate research, and provide education and support for a disease that affects people of all ages.

Shaw is an experienced fundraiser and health advocate.  In Shaw’s most recent role at the Georgia Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), he successfully led the organization in raising millions of dollars each year for the JDRF program through a wide variety of community fundraising events and a major gifts program.

A native Floridian, Rob moved to the coast of Georgia in 1992 and then relocated to Atlanta in 1994.  Over the past thirteen years, Rob has been actively working with not-for-profits including: Project Open Hand, AIDS Walk Atlanta and the American Heart Association.

Life Science Partner announces recruitment of former Global President of J&J’s OrthoNeutrogena Company, a Division of Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, Inc.

Life Science Partner announces the appointment of Chris Dennis, a senior sales, marketing and general management executive, to Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as the Senior VP of  Sales and Marketing.   

Angiotech is a global specialty pharmaceutical and medical device company that discovers, develops, and markets innovative technologies and medical products primarily for local diseases or for complications associated with medical device implants, surgical interventions and acute injury.

In Dennis’ most recent role at OrthoNeutrogena, a pharmaceutical and aesthetic device company, he was responsible for the overall strategy and business growth initiatives.  In his previous position at Janssen Ortho, Inc., a Canadian pharmaceutical company, he served as Vice President of Marketing and Sales where he managed a wide range of prescription medications. 

Mr. Dennis also held the position of President, LifeScan Canada Ltd. (medical devices), where he oversaw the sales, marketing and distribution of diagnostic products for people with diabetes.   He also held a number of sales and management roles at McNeil Consumer Products, a J&J company, and Bristol Myers Products Canada.

At Angiotech, Dennis will be focused on building a global sales and marketing organization and commercialization strategy that includes the company’s sales and market capability in the five identified markets of Ophthalmology, Wound Closure, Vascular, Biopsy and Aesthetics.  He will have the responsibility for building near-term strategies and subsequent revenues from innovating technologies existing within each of these product areas.
